Our take on ChessVR
The bounce point is the move interface: players must use a gamepad or Vive controllers to make chess moves. Those expecting a conventional desktop board or mouse-based workflow will hit that hardware requirement before getting into the four AI levels or checkmate challenges.
What is ChessVR?
ChessVR places the player around a virtual chessboard, allowing movement toward the pieces for a close view of exchanges or farther away to consider the next move.
Matches can be played against the AI across four difficulty settings. The game also includes chess challenges, such as finding checkmate in two turns from a given position. Movement works in all directions, and moves can be made with either a gamepad or Vive controllers. Stockfish is included as the default chess engine, while other engines supporting UCI can also be used. Video and sound animations accompany the board, pieces, and player movement.
