Our take on Beat The Machine: Rebooted
The defining structure is its skill-selection system: each run can use different upgrades, while the three modes change how freely those choices can be reset or limited.
What is Beat The Machine: Rebooted?
Beat The Machine: Rebooted is a top-down retro shooter set inside a computer world made of 11 Origin Sectors.
As Damon, players defend Sector VIII from T. O. M. , a machine seeking control of the sectors. The campaign contains 25 levels with individual objectives, nine enemy types, and five bosses.
More than 70 skills modify abilities and ship statistics, including firing speed, damage, armor, cooldowns, area damage, and movement. Casual mode permits unlimited skill resets, Advanced mode permits none, and Nightmare limits the number of skills available. Progress saves at each level’s end zone rather than through checkpoints. An endless survival mode awards credits for defeating enemies, which can be spent on XV9 ship upgrades. Ship appearance can also be changed with more than 12 paint colors.
