Our take on Automata Break
The two-role structure adds tactical variety but requires coordinating tower defense with direct combat, especially in solo play where both roles must be handled by one player.
What is Automata Break?
Automata Break combines tower defense with a first-person shooter for VR.
In local co-op, one player takes the role of the Tactical Drone, placing defensive structures and using abilities, while the VR player becomes the Robotic Operator and fights Automata with different weapons. Solo play combines both roles, allowing tower placement and direct combat during the same stage. Players can buy and upgrade weapons and towers, plan builds for each level, use abilities such as teleportation and a large missile attack, and apply mutators that change game mechanics. Each stage offers two difficulty levels. The game supports solo play and local multiplayer.
How Automata Break plays
- 01Asymmetrical Co-op
- Local multiplayer assigns strategic defense to one player and direct VR combat to the other.
- 02Combined Solo Role
- Single-player sessions let one player switch between placing towers and fighting inside the map.
- 03Upgradeable Arsenal
- Weapons and defensive towers can be bought and improved during a game.
- 04Tactical Abilities
- The Tactical Drone can teleport the VR player or launch a large missile across the map.
- 05Gameplay Mutators
- Mutators alter the game mechanics and change how stages play.
- 06Stage Difficulty Options
- Each stage includes two difficulty levels.
