Our take on AutoForge
The defining structure is the blend of factory automation with world expansion: production networks reach resource outposts while Otto gradually opens new regions and defends the resulting infrastructure.
What is AutoForge?
AutoForge is a 2D automation sandbox adventure starring Otto, a magical golem searching for his ancient masters.
Build production systems powered by Mana, using machines, farming, and monster husbandry to process resources. Connect distant ore deposits to the central factory and reshape the surrounding world as needed. Exploration combines procedurally generated regions with handcrafted points of interest, treasures, inhabitants, and dangerous areas. Expand the accessible world region by region, research structures and materials through a large technology tree, and use ancient devices to improve Otto’s mainframe. Enemy drones protect the world’s resources, requiring defense with a sword, blaster, and an automated defensive system.
How AutoForge plays
- 01Factory Automation
- Production lines use Mana-driven machines, agriculture, and creature keeping to process resources.
- 02Mixed World Generation
- Regions combine procedural layouts with manually created locations to explore.
- 03Regional Expansion
- Additional parts of the sandbox become accessible as Otto’s tether is extended with suitable materials.
- 04Technology Research
- A large research tree introduces new construction options and materials as factory power grows.
- 05Automated Defense
- Players can combine direct weapons with their own defensive machinery against resource-protecting drones.
AutoForge compared to similar games
AutoForge centers on Mana-powered production networks, research, regional exploration, and defense, while Mr. Prepper focuses on building an underground shelter and preparing for a nuclear-war threat. Fun with Ragdolls: The Game provides a physics sandbox for constructing environments and causing ragdoll interactions rather than managing factories, technologies, and resource outposts.
