Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players looking for a campaign with a defined ending may hit a wall in the endless-wave structure.
- Those who want long breaks between combat encounters may find the constant enemy waves and boss battles demanding.
- Players seeking a story-focused space adventure may find the emphasis on combat and scoring too narrow.
Our take on ASTRO ACE
The main sticking point is the endless-wave format: players who want a campaign with a clear finish may lose interest once the repeated combat loop becomes apparent. Combat also requires tracking ammunition and energy while dodging within radiation walls, so those systems can become a barrier during sustained runs.
What is ASTRO ACE?
ASTRO ACE is an arcade space shooter centered on surviving endless waves of enemy ships.
Pilot through a universe enclosed by radiation walls, using acceleration, braking, and turns to dodge attacks or aim at enemies behind the ship. The game includes 10 playable ships, 14 primary weapons, and 7 secondary weapons; ammunition and energy need replenishing during combat. Power-ups have 3 levels, and players can unlock ships, paint jobs, and support equipment. Defeating 5 elite enemy ships grants wingman support for 15 seconds. Boss battles punctuate the wave-based play. Leveling up lets players choose a weapon to use from the start. Steam leaderboards, achievements, cloud support, keyboard controls, and gamepad support are included.
