Our take on Astride
The clearest bounce point is the current state of the riding systems: players expecting finished jumping or dressage may find the prototype courses and tests too limited, while the game remains in pre-alpha with possible bugs.
What is Astride?
Astride is a horse game set in a Scandinavian-inspired environment and currently in pre-alpha Early Access.
Available activities include breeding horses, customizing their appearance, multiplayer exploration, show jumping, and dressage. In the breeding prototype, foals inherit traits from their mare and stallion, grow into rideable adults, and can be bred across generations. The horse creator offers choices such as breed, height, head shape, coat color, and markings. Show jumping includes training and timed courses, plus cross-country jumps; players can compare times with friends. Dressage offers several tests, with scores based on following the program and changing gaits at the right moments. The game is still in development, with limited features and possible bugs.
