Is Asher worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Platforming RPG players who want leveling and equipment alongside action
- Players who enjoy experimenting with masks that have different abilities and passive effects
- Action-adventure players interested in dream-and-nightmare settings with boss encounters
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking an open-world RPG may find the nine-level, two-act structure limited in scope.
- Players who prefer relaxed pacing may struggle with the fast action, skill shots, and challenging bosses.
- Players looking primarily for stealth, survival crafting, or tower defense will find those systems outside the game's stated focus.
Our take on Asher
The bounce point comes when fast action, skill shots, and challenging bosses require more precise play than relaxed platforming. Players may also hit a wall when progression requires comparing masks, passive effects, and equipment loot rather than relying on one fixed setup.

Asher compared to similar games
Asher combines platforming, masks with distinct abilities, leveling, equipment loot, and boss fights in a dream-and-nightmare setting. Ghost of a Tale instead emphasizes exploration, stealth, disguises, and conversations in an animal-populated medieval world, while Vagante centers on dark-fantasy adventuring among monsters, demons, and crooks. Dungeon Defenders: Awakened combines action RPG systems with cooperative tower defense, unlike Asher’s platforming structure.
