Our take on Artificial Defense
The bounce point comes when firing requires resource management as well as aim: each shot costs RAM, weapons have separate cooldowns, and projectiles take time to hit moving targets.
What is Artificial Defense?
Artificial Defense combines real-time strategy, tower defense, and an orbital shooter in a virtual reality setting.
The task is to protect an operating system from waves of intruders. Players fire 21 offensive weapons, deploy 21 defensive towers and seven resource-producing towers, and send Intrusion Counter Measures to capture corrupted databases, honeypots, and firewalls. Firing consumes RAM, weapons have individual cooldowns, and projectiles take time to reach moving targets. RAM also supports system routines, while data carriers release RAM when they reach backup devices. Weapons and towers can be unlocked and installed in the uplab. Hardware progresses through seven levels, from punch-tape systems to quantum AI. The game has 49 challenges across seven servers and 13 music tracks.
