Our take on Artifacts
The likely bounce point is death: collected artifacts are lost and redistributed, so players who want upgrades to remain secured between attempts may find that setback hard to accept.
What is Artifacts?
Artifacts is a 2D action-adventure platformer set in an interconnected kingdom of ruins, caves, riverways, fortresses, and temples.
Its world spans 9 biomes, with open-ended paths that let players choose where to explore. Finding more than 50 artifacts provides movement options and combat effects, including poison that can paralyze enemies and magma cannons. Artifact combinations shape each run, while death causes artifacts to be lost and scattered again. Players use the upgrades they find to reach deeper areas and fight sleeping creatures and bosses with distinct mechanics and rewards. The soundtrack pairs calmer string themes in areas with rock music during boss encounters.
How Artifacts plays
- 01Artifact combinations
- More than 50 relics offer movement changes and combat effects, and combinations can form different builds.
- 02Death disperses artifacts
- When a character dies, collected relics are lost and spread back through the world.
- 03Boss encounters
- Bosses have distinct mechanics and provide rewards.
- 04Nine biomes
- The connected kingdom includes areas such as caves, riverways, fortresses, and temples.
