Our take on Army of Pixels
Its defining structure is a lane-based tug-of-war where real-time and turn-based decisions meet. Success depends on placing forces, managing resources, and matching unit abilities against opposing units, buildings, and effects rather than following a developed narrative.
What is Army of Pixels?
Army of Pixels is a lane-based strategy game that combines real-time and turn-based gameplay.
Players control lanes, manage resources, and deploy units to counter enemy forces and tactics. The roster includes 17 playable factions, ranging from dwarves and fire elementals to insect swarms, tree creatures, vampires, zombies, and rats. Units interact through counters and special abilities: inquisitors target dark creatures, undead resist poison, and tree beasts perform well against buildings. Faction and spell combinations are central to its mechanics. The game draws mainly on tug-of-war formats and focuses on battles rather than story or world-building. Content includes a campaign map, factions to unlock, and an Endless mode with higher levels.
