Good fit- Falling-block puzzle fans who want chain reactions and escalating speed
- Local multiplayer groups seeking competitive sessions for two players
- Puzzle players who want randomly generated objectives beyond standard play
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a slow, turn-based puzzle format may find the continuously accelerating pieces too frantic.
- Those looking for a story-driven or exploration-focused game may find the repeated block-clearing structure narrow.
- Players without interest in local competition or score posting may not use several of the game's modes.
Our take on Anode
The defining mechanic is its linked-block chain system: angled couplers connect pieces across each other, then a detonator can set off successive clears as the remaining blocks fall.
What is Anode?
Anode is a falling-block puzzle game where pieces descend continuously and increase in speed.
Players rotate and place colored blocks, connect angled couplers, and build chains across multiple colors. Activating a detonator destroys a connected chain, causing blocks above it to fall and creating opportunities for further clears. Mission Mode adds randomly generated objectives, while earned items can clear the bin. Local multiplayer supports two players with connected controllers or a shared keyboard. Longer chains send blocks to the opponent, and offensive items can interfere with their side. Players can post scores to leaderboards, while the soundtrack grows more intense as the bin fills.
How Anode plays
- 01Chain-based clearing
- Detonators remove connected block groups, allowing falling pieces to trigger additional chain reactions.
- 02Mission objectives
- Mission Mode generates objectives that add tasks beyond ordinary block clearing.
- 03Local competition
- Two players can compete using controllers or one keyboard, with chains and items affecting the opponent's side.
- 04Score leaderboards
- Players can post their scores to leaderboards.
