Our take on Annie and the AI
The focus on visual puzzles and family files gives the game a clear narrative shape, but leaves less room for combat, exploration, or broad system-driven play. Its progression depends on following Annie’s story and solving related challenges.
What is Annie and the AI?
Play as Esme, an AI created by Annie, and learn through visual puzzles based on images from Annie’s life.
Puzzle types include locating data clusters in minesweeper-style layouts, repairing distorted images, and arranging circuits to connect related images. Annie’s family story unfolds through files on her computer, with additional records unlocked as the story progresses. Hidden files can be found by identifying keywords and completing a separate mini-game. The narrative follows Esme’s development from childhood through adolescence and maturity. The game includes more than 150 hand-drawn illustrations, an original soundtrack, and voice acting led by Katy Bentz.
