Our take on Alvara
Rather than treating companions as fixed combat roles, Alvara ties their effectiveness to personal relationships. Trust can open access to special attacks, while choices also reshape the story and the fate of its inhabitants.
What is Alvara?
Alvara is a turn-based narrative RPG in which players control Zoltae, an orphaned warrior from Bazzya, on a quest across the lost land of Alvara.
Decisions influence the story and can have irreversible effects on its inhabitants. Characters may be recruited according to their motivations, personalities, and relationship with Zoltae, while the Synergy system links ally trust to special attacks and exhaustion. Exploration includes varied environments, ruins, interactive objects, puzzles, maps, quests, merchants, and calendar-linked events. Tactical combat, skill development, blacksmithing, potion-making, and equipment management support progression. The game is in Early Access and currently covers the journey to the end of Bazzya Road.

Alvara compared to similar games
Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition is an RPG built around an unconventional story, characters, and exploration, while Alvara combines narrative decisions with turn-based combat, ally recruitment, crafting, and relationship-based abilities. Back to the Dawn centers on surviving, investigating, and escaping a maximum-security prison, whereas Alvara focuses on a broader journey through varied environments and ruins. Ghost of a Tale is an action-RPG emphasizing stealth, disguises, conversations, and exploration in an animal-populated medieval world; Alvara instead uses turn-based battles, party alliances, and choice-driven consequences.
