Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a large, open-ended simulation may find the week-long, task-led structure narrow in scope
- Players looking for constant action may find the opening's everyday activities and slower story setup too subdued
- Players who want deep character customization or complex resource systems may find the focus is on story tasks and outdoor activities
Our take on ALASKA
Rather than opening with a murder investigation, ALASKA spends its first phase on ordinary community routines and outdoor activities. The later crime breaks that rhythm, turning familiar neighbors into suspects and replacing a conventional action-driven structure with a two-part shift from local life to suspicion.
What is ALASKA?
ALASKA follows Blake through one week in a remote Alaskan mountain town made up of five families.
The first part focuses on everyday community life as Blake spends time with neighbors while coping with his wife leaving him. Activities include fishing, ice skating, hunting, starting fires, delivering mail, finding items, and cutting trees with a chainsaw. After a murdered body is found on the town airstrip, the story shifts toward suspicion and investigation. Neighbors who helped Blake may be hiding secrets, and the plot includes twists leading toward its final scenes. Postcards identify upcoming objectives, while a map supports navigation between tasks and locations.
