Is Achron worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Strategy players who want battles built around changing past and future actions
- RTS fans who enjoy managing forces across several time frames
- Players seeking a long single-player campaign with optional multiplayer matches
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking conventional RTS battles may hit a wall when they must track and revise orders across multiple points in time.
- Those wanting short, immediately readable matches may lose momentum in the layered timeline and paradox systems.
- Players looking for a small, self-contained campaign may find the four-campaign, 35-level structure too extensive.
Our take on Achron
The bounce point arrives when ordinary unit orders become part of a changing timeline. Players who do not want to monitor earlier and later states, revise commands, and account for paradoxes may hit that wall before the campaign's larger battles become manageable.
What is Achron?
Achron is a real-time strategy game built around movement through time.
Players can send units into earlier or later moments, revise previous orders, coordinate forces with their past selves, and create paradoxes during battles. The timeline can be explored to anticipate opposing actions, gather information, undo tactical errors, and set traps. Four single-player campaigns contain 35 levels and more than 30 hours of play. Multiplayer supports up to 15 simultaneous players in a shared temporal environment. Order hierarchies manage groups across multiple time frames. The game also includes a level editor and SDK for creating maps and mods, while its story follows a survivor investigating an alien invasion.
