Our take on Absinth
The defining mechanic is the AR glass, which turns environmental analysis into a way to interpret the world and avoid encounters with the unknown AI.
What is Absinth?
Absinth is a first-person psychological horror thriller set in California’s Redwoods.
Zane Zaminsky disappears after arriving in late July 2018 and is found two days later with no memory of that time or of having a daughter. The investigation follows clues about his past, amnesia, and the events that changed his life. Gameplay involves hiding from an unknown threat, distinguishing reality from illusion, solving riddles involving shifting dimensions, and decoding secret documents. An AR glass device analyzes the environment and reveals ways to avoid encounters with the AI. The story presents scenes in conflicting ways, placing survival and investigation within a dark narrative about fear, loss, and hope.
