Our take on A Fishy RPG
Fishing replaces the usual combat-first route to character growth: catching fish supplies experience, while the rod and cave layer determine access to new targets. The game also frames its role-playing progression around an unusual search for legendary fish rather than conventional treasure or enemies.
What is A Fishy RPG?
A Fishy RPG is a retro-style role-playing game focused on survival, exploration, and fishing.
Fishing provides experience, supports stat development, and drives progress toward the story’s conclusion. Players explore procedurally generated maps and cave layers, using portals to reach deeper areas. Upgrading the fishing rod allows access to rarer fish, while improving the gun lets players break rocks blocking deeper routes. The game includes four playable characters, three statistics to develop—power, defense, and speed—and equipment upgrades for the rod and gun. Wildlife can be hunted and can also attack the player. The main objective is to find legendary fish, uncover the truth about fish, surface fishermen, and Satan, and reach one of two endings.
